Being the self-proclaiming nature nut that I am, I thought I would share some pictures from this past weekend’s trip to the lovely Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve in Birmingham, AL! The preserve, which is nestled a few miles from the city’s center, is an amazing conservation park with tons of trails leading to fantastic scenery (there are old mines here along with a quarry and full on overlook view of the city of Birmingham).
We used the hour-or-so stop to stretch our legs as a car-trip break and I can truly say that this was one of the best pit-stops I’ve ever had! The park is open from sunup to sundown every day of the week and if you are ever in the area, I highly suggest stopping by and going for a brief hike. The seclusion is amazing and Alabama has some surprising natural beauty!
If you cannot tell, I am slightly obsessed with fungus…
I am really proud of my little iPhone for taking these pictures- it’s nice to know that I can still rely on something when I leave the fancy Nikon at home! If you’ve ever been to great hiking spots let me know- I’m on the lookout for new places!
Until next time,
